A Clare company which specialises in drug harm reduction is warning those attending Electric Picnic it’s “inevitable” drugs with toxic and harmful chemicals will be at the festival.

11 inmates of Portlaoise Prison – which is a 20-minute drive from the Electric Picnic site in Stradbally – have been treated in hospital this week following a mass overdose incident at the facility.

Festival-goers are being reminded two tents providing drug harm reduction services will be open from 11am to 9pm from Friday to Sunday – while two surrender bins where people can deposit drugs for analysis will also be available.

Due to the close proximity of the festival to the site of the mass overdose, Managing Director of Atlantic Clinical Packaging in Ennis Michael Considine is advising attendees not to take any chances and to steer clear of all illicit substances.
