Clare farmers assured by Minister over fodder crisis

Clare farming representatives say they’ve received assurances that banks will act considerately with farmers affected by the fodder shortage.

Minister Simon Coveney says he’s working to help farmers facing mounting bills as a result of a lack of fodder, admitting that there is a crisis in the sector.

While calls had been made for a ten million euro hardship fund to be distributed nationwide, the Minister says he only has only a small crisis fund at hand.

However, General Secretary of the ICSA and Cratloe farmer Eddie Punch has told Clare FM’s Farm Focus that banks have promised to help.
