Clare farmers are expected to see their incomes hold steady under the new Common Agricultural Policy regime.

Under the Single Farm Payment, €49 million was paid out in Clare in 2012 and now Pillar 1 funding here is set to rise by less than 5% under the new scheme, according to a study by the Irish Farmers Journal.

While bigger growth is expected elsewhere, in areas including Donegal, Mayo and Kerry, drops are also projected in more than half of all areas with farmers in 11 counties set to see a hit of more than 5% to their incomes.
