Clare’s Fianna Fáíl TD is calling for extra Garda resources to be deployed to address issues relating to the incident at the Traveller accommodation site in North Clare.
Cathal Crowe says the “savage attack” is “frightening” and has raised serious concern in the locality, with a real worry that a further escalation of feuding may lead to bloodshed.
The Meelick Deputy has written to Garda Commissioner Drew Harris and the Chief Superintendent of the Clare Garda Division urging them to draft in Garda personnel to help bring calm and control to the situation.
He’s also separately written to Pavee Point, urging them to use leadership voices within the Traveller community to mediate in the situation.
Deputy Crowe has been telling Clare FM’s Seán Lyons that the believes the laws of Ireland are robust and that it’s important An Garda Síochána now use their full powers to bring order here.
