Clare County Fire Service is warning people to be aware of the dangers of wrongly retrofitted stoves this winter.
This week is National Fire Safety Week, with the main theme of ‘Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives’.
It’s understood a number of fire incidents have been observed in this county in recent years because of stoves that have been poorly retrofitted by people without the relevant expertise.
Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer with Clare County Fire and Rescue Service, Denis O’Connell says they’re aware of an increase in people purchasing gas heaters this winter as well.
