Clare County Fire Service is urging the public the take precautions and avoid unnecessary upset this Christmas.
Last year, this county’s units responded to 94 emergency call outs over the month of December, with many incidents arising due to chimney and electrical fires.
People are advised not to keep flame lit candles near decorations, to use lights with LED bulbs and not to overload electrical sockets.
Clare Chief Fire Officer Adrian Kelly says some households have been met with devastation in the past by failing to act.
