A West Clare garda remains in a stable condition in hospital after a violent mugging incident in Limerick at the weekend.

The victim who’s in his early 30’s and based at Gort Garda Station was attacked in Limerick City following a night out with his wife.
They were set upon by a gang of youths who stole the woman’s handbag and then turned on the young garda who suffered a blow to the head.
The thieves then stole the West Clare man’s mobile phone as his wife attempted to raise the alarm.
Gardaí at Henry Street are investigating the incident and the young garda is still being treated at Dooradoyle for his injuries
