Clare residents embarking on a staycation this summer are being urged to be mindful about what you post on social media.

The county’s Crime Prevention Officer is warning of an increased risk of buglaries, as more people move away from home to make the most of their time off, now that restrictions have eased.

Sergeant Triona Brooks is advising people to ask a trusted neighbour or family member to conduct frequent checks of their home at different times of the day, to note any signs of trespassing or interference.

And she says it’s vital that people don’t share holiday plans online.
