Clare Gay Rights Campaigners Welcome Convention Vote On Same-Sex Marriage

Clare campaigners for gay and lesbian couples have described the Constitutional Convention’s overwhelming support for same-sex marriage as a proud moment for Ireland.

79 percent of those involved called for a change in the constitution to allow for such unions, while 18 percent voted against it.

The government will now assess the recommendation and consider whether they will allow the matter be put to a referendum
