Clare’s Green Senator says the method of calculating rent pressure zones is no longer ‘fit for purpose’.
It comes amid continued concern about rising rents in this county, with Clare yet to meet the criteria set down in legislation to become a designated RPZ.
Average rental prices in this county are now above €1,100 according to property website Daft.ie, with local prices having risen by as much as 17 percent in a year in some areas.
Inagh-based Senator Roisin Garvey says another mechanism is needed to address rising costs in this county.
