The Clare-based President of the Irish Road Haulage Association says more support is needed for hauliers from bigger Co-ops and PLCs across the country.

The Department of Transport has announced a Licensed Haulage Emergency Support Scheme worth 18 million euro is now open for applications, where hauliers will recieve grants to help with rising costs.

Eugene Drennan, says many co-ops, quarries and agricultural companies have failed to provide supports for their drivers.

The Ennis Haulier, who’s based at Spa Transport on the Lahinch Road, insists the situation is festering as the sector continues to be hit with spiraling costs.
