Clare Haven had to refuse refuge to women at times of high demand in 2022.

The service received 341 requests for admission last year and managed to accommodate 99 woman and 171 children.

This means that for every one family who was sheltered by Clare Haven, approximately 2 families had to be refused.

Manager of Services at Clare Haven, Siobhán O’Connor says every alternative is explored if the six units at its centre are full, but that it can be difficult.
