Clare households will pay 15% more in Local Property Tax in 2017 than they have for the last two years.
Councillors have voted to collect the LPT at the full rate for the coming year, which is expected to garner an extra 1.5 million euro for the local authority.
Local representatives passed the proposal by 21 votes to 4, at a special debate on the issue.
The motion to forego the 15% cut came from Fianna Fail Councillor Tom McNamara who insists the extra funds must be spent to improve quality of life in Clare.
