Clare IBTS Issues Urgent Appeal For Blood Donors

The Clare branch of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service is urging members of the public to come on board as donors in order to prevent supply shortages.

The service will require 3,000 new donations each week to simply keep hospitals supplied and its hoping to recruit at least 15,000 new donors this year.

People with the blood type O-Negative are particularly sought after as they make up 16% of all bloods issued and are considered universal donors.
