Land prices in Clare fell by almost 6% or 400 euro per acre last year.
That’s despite a drop by a tenth in the amount of land that was put up for sale in 2011.
According to the Irish Farmer’s Journal, the average price of an acre of land put up for sale last year is 6528 euro, though quality is a major factor in price, with one 10.5 acre parcess reaching over 15 thuosand per acre.
Shirley Busteed with the Irish Farmers Journal says that nationally land prices are beginning to show signs of bottoming out, and feels this is good for the industry as a whole.
