Clare Man Living With Multiple Myeloma Urging People To Get Symptoms Checked

A south-east Clare man living with a form of cancer is reminding people that getting an unusual symptom checked could be the difference between life and death.

In 2013 after a routine visit to the Galway clinic, Bunratty resident Paul Wallace was diagnosed with multiple myeloma which is a cancer that forms in plasma cells, causing them to build up in bone marrow.

The condition became serious in 2020 to the point of Paul’s family making funeral arrangement but access to a US drug which only works for one in three people has extended his life far beyond what was predicted.

Paul insists men in particular must become more comfortable going to the doctor and getting their ailments seen to.
