Clare’s MEP believes the Department of Justice “hasn’t a clue what it’s doing” regarding the processing of asylum seekers.

It comes as the High Court has ruled that the State’s response to the needs of International Protection Applicants is in breach of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.

Specifically, the High Court has found that the State’s failure to provide accommodation to asylum seekers is in breach of their right to human dignity under Article 1 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.

Scariff native and Independent Member of the European Parliament Michael McNamara claims the Justice Department’s inability to process asylum seekers in a swift manner indicates it’s not up to the challenge.
