Clare Mother Hopeful “Miracle Drug” Will Provide Longer, Healthier Life For Her 6 Year-Old Daughter

A Clare mother says words can’t describe the relief they’re experiencing after a campaign to access a life-saving drug has been successful.

The cystic fibrosis drug Kaftrio has this week been approved for use by children aged six to eleven years of age, who previously fell outside the eligibility criteria.

The 35 children were prevented from accessing the drug, as they’ve a different genotype, despite evidence which suggests the drug works even better for these children.

Ennis woman Barbara Buckley, who’s six year-old daughter Hazel is one of the 35, hopes her child will have a longer, healthier and better quality of life.
