Clare Oncology Nurse Urges People Not To Ignore Signs Of Breast Cancer

With October being breast cancer awareness month, a Clare oncology nurse is reminding people not to ignore signs of breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women in Ireland with around 3,500 women diagnosed in Ireland each year, and that only a third of people will have cancer detected through screening.

A 2023 BreastCheck national survey found that 48% of Irish adults have either been personally affected by or have had someone close to them affected by breast cancer.

Oncology nurse from Tulla, Anne Murphy, says not to hesitate in contacting a GP should you find a lump, as early diagnosis can be so important.
