Clare people are being urged to upskill their water safety in order to reverse a worrying national trend of drownings.

As it stands, an average of 118 people lose their lives through drowning in Ireland every year.

In one in three recorded incidents, alcohol has been identified as a contributory factor.

Clare Water Safety Officer Clare McGrath is urging members of the public to take all manner of precautions to save lives.
