Clare Sinn Féin Rep Insists Change Of Government Necessary To Tackle Homelessness

A Clare Sinn Féin representative fears an entire generation will be locked out of housing unless a change of government is brought about.

The opposition party will table a Dáil motion today, aimed at tackling homelessness and has condemned what it describes as the government’s “disastrous” housing record.

Sinn Féin claims that since Fine Gael entered government in 2011, homelessness has soared by 254% while child homelessness is up 540%.

 

Cathaoirleach of the Shannon Municipal District and Sinn Féin Councillor Donna McGettigan believes soaring house prices and scarcity of accommodation are an indictment of the government’s current housing policy.
