Fears have been expressed for small and medium businesses in Clare due to Ireland’s “overreliance” on corporation tax.

It follows the launch of the Irish Small and Medium and Enterprise Council’s pre-budget submission, which is calling on the Government to focus on supports for indigenous firms.

According to the CSO, 70% of Clare’s private workforce is currently employed by a small or medium Irish company.

ISME Council Member and Director of St.Tola’s Goats Cheese in Ennistymon Siobhán Ní Ghairbhith insists the state must recognise the permanent contribution of indigenous enterprise to the economy.
