Clare’s Deputy Mayor Concerned over Council Funding

The newly elected Deputy Mayor of Clare says that the cutbacks from Government for local authorities are the biggest challenge facing the new line-up of Clare County Council.

Ennis East Independent Councillor Tommy Brennan says that the lack of funding from Leinster House will pose the biggest threat to the local authority in the coming months with the emphasis on providing services and retaining jobs.

Councillor Brennan was elected unopposed to the deputy office at yesterday’s Annual General Meeting of Clare County Council.

He says that the difficult economic circumstances will need tough action from the local authority
