Cllr Slams Approval Of €4.5b Project To Pump Water From Parteen Basin To Dublin

The Government has been accused of neglecting rural Clare after approving a €4.5bn project to pump water from the Parteen Basin to Dublin City.

The Water Supply Project, given the green light by Cabinet this week will aim to extract 2% of the River Shannon’s average flow each year, to address drinking water deficits in the Greater Dublin area.

Concern has also been expressed locally, that the 170km pipeline needed for the project will cause significant disruption to farmers and landowners.
