A cloud of sadness is said to have descended over South East Clare today following the recovery of a body from the water last night.
Shortly before 11pm on Thursday, the Coast Guard mounted a search for a man reported missing in the Killaloe area.
Following an extensive search a body was located beneath a jetty, near the same site where another man was rescued from the water earlier that day.
Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of the tragedy and whether there’s a connection between last night’s discovery.
Cathaoirleach of the Killaloe Municipal District and Fianna Fáil Councillor Tony O’Brien says the community is in shock.
