The National Ploughing Championships which generates millions for the host county every year- could be staged in Clare in the coming years.
Sixmilebridge Councillor and ploughing enthusiast PJ Ryan along with a number of other local councillors is urging Clare County Council to consider such a move as Stradbally in County Laois has been selected to stage the event in 2013.
The 3 day major agricultural event attracts hundreds of thousands of people every year and generates millions for the local economy.
While Clare doesn’t have the same large stretches of land required for the event, Clr Ryan thinks it can still be done here
