Concern That Electricity Bills Will Continue To Rise Despite Reduced Government Levy

Concern is being expressed in Clare that households won’t see a reduction in electricity costs, despite a decrease in the government levy.

The Commission for the Regulation of Utilities has announced a decrease in the PSO levy from €104 per year to around €47.

It’ll come into effect from October 1st, with the CRU saying householders should experience a drop in their bills from this date.

However, Clare area President of Saint Vincent de Paul Niamh McDonnell says this comes on the back of electricity providers hiking their prices, so it won’t mean much to the average person.
