Concern Expressed About Social Divide In Cancer Rates

The Irish Cancer Society has called for urgent action to tackle the disease in disadvantaged communities.

The society this morning launches a new 5 year strategy called ‘Towards a Future without Cancer’.

It says progress has been made in treating and diagnosing cancer – but it’s worried about an emerging social divide – with death rates in poorer communities double those of better-off areas.
