Consultant Appointed To Address Ballycar Rail Line Flooding Issues

A consultant has been appointed to develop a solution to the persistent flooding issues affecting parts of the Ennis-Limerick rail line.

A two-mile stretch of rail at Ballycar, near Newmarket-on-Fergus, has been completely submerged in recent years, leading to long-term closures of the rail line, which was used by over 385,000 commuters last year.

Now, Clare County Council has confirmed that RPS Consulting has been appointed to work on the project, after last November saw the local authority, Irish Rail and the Office of Public Works agree to work together to address the problem.
