Council to scrap development contributions at strategic sites

Clare County Council is set to scrap development contributions at strategic sites across Clare in a bid to attract employment.

Councillors here have approved a motion which would see the fees waived for works on lands near Shannon Airport and for marine related industry along the Shannon Estuary.

It’s hoped this would give Clare the edge over other counties when attracting large-scale industry, and in turn lead to significant jobs boosts.

The Council says the scheme should be in place by the end of the year, but local representatives say they’re hopeful it could be implemented even sooner than that.

Lissycasey Fianna Fail Councillor PJ Kelly is confident the plan will work.
