A Killlaloe Councillor has expressed his astonishment over the number of NAMA-owned properties deemed unsuitable for social housing by Clare County Council.

 

A Killlaloe Councillor has expressed his astonishment over the number of NAMA-owned properties deemed unsuitable for social housing by Clare County Council.

 

New figures show that of the 234 homes offered by the national housing agency, 150 were rejected either because there was no demand for them, or they would prevent the development of "sustainable communities."

Councillor Tony O'Brien, who's a member of the council's housing committee, says the properties that weren't accepted, simply didn't meet the needs of those requiring a home.

There's over three thousand people on the social housing list and Councillor O'Brien has been telling me that more needs to be done at Government level to reduce that number:
