Almost a third of septic tanks in Clare failed inspections last year.
The Environmental Protection Agency’s report on Domestic Waste Water Treatment Systems, published today, has found that 53 inspections were completed by the local authority, well below it’s 2022 requirement of 93.
The findings in the report also reveal that there was a 32% failure rate in Clare last year, with 180 systems in total failing between 2013 and 2022.
83% of systems that failed over the nine year period were fixed by the end of last year.
