Clare County Fire and Rescue Service says availing of free home safety checks could prevent the ‘horror’ of a domestic fire.
The local fire service responded to 112 house fires last year, averaging at approximately two incidents a week.

Local officers are now providing free home fire safety checks for older people and those living alone in a bid to reduce the number of domestic fires, injuries or fatalities that occur.
Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer with Clare County Fire and Rescue Service, Denis O’Connell says the heartbreak of losing a loved one to fire is something no family should experience.
