North Clare Business Forced To Install Water Storage Tanks Due To Historic Drought Issues

A North Clare business owner says she was forced to invest in private measures to protect against historic drought issues in the area.

Carran is one of twelve areas being closely monitored by Irish Water after record temperatures on Sunday and Monday placed pressure on infrastructure, with tankering and night-time restrictions in operation.

The Burren Perfumery was affected by shortages four years ago and has since secured its own spring and installed large tanks capable of storing three days worth of water.

 

Co-owner Sadie Chowen says they had no choice but to come up with a drought policy.
