The Taoiseach says the Government will examine the possibility of allocating capital funding to Clare County Council to operate three of Shannon Heritage’s sites.
The local authority and Shannon Group are understood to be in advanced discussions regarding the transfer of the management of Knappgoue Castle, Craggaunowen and Bunratty Castle & Folk Park to the local authority.
However, the Council has told elected representatives it needs a financial commitment from the State before it can move forward.
Addressing Clare Fianna Fail TD Cathal Crowe, Taoiseach Micheal Martin has doubled down on controversial remarks asking the local authority to “get on with” the process.
