Day three of the search for a missing man believed to have entered the river Fergus on Thursday has been “stood down”.

Four sub aqua clubs joined the search today along with The Shannon Based Irish Coast Guard Rescue 115 Helicopter

A major multi-agency search was launched at 11pm on Thursday evening and stood down at 2am on the following morning.

On Friday, Civil Defence volunteers completed a search of the River Fergus from Ennis to Clarecastle, with no trace of the missing man being found.

17 divers and support team members from the recovery units of Ennis, Burren, Kilkee and Lough Derg Sub Aqua Club arrived early today to resume the search.

The search is set to resume tomorrow morning.
