The Defence Minister insists Ireland is NOT complicit in US military interventions by allowing the US military to use Shannon Airport.

Minister Simon Coveney has used a Dáil debate to re-iterate the state's long-held position that allowing troops to pass through Shannon is not in breach of Ireland's netrality.

America's role in the Middle East has come in for renewed scrutiny in light of the Paris terror attacks, while there has also been focus on Ireland and claims that we too could be a target for terrorists.

But Minister Coveney says the country's policy decisions will be made with Ireland's interests in mind.
