Clare County Council’s budget plans for the remainder of the year have been thrown into disarray.

It’s emerged eventhough the local authority has reached the required compliance rates for the household charge payment – the Department has confirmed to Clare FM it WONT be refunding monies already withheld.
In July the council opted to proceed with their full budget plans for 2012 based on pledges from both Fine Gael TDs that the withheld funds would be returned once compliance rates were raised to a certain level.
However local Fine Gael Councillor Joe Cooney says its been confirmed to him that the 240 thousand euro cutback wont be returned and is now demanding full clarification from Deputies Breen and Carey
