A multi-million euro infrastructural project for North Clare is tipped to end the practice of untreated wastewater being discharged into Ballyvaughan Bay.

Uisce Éireann has confirmed construction on the €11 million Ballyvaughan Wastewater Treatment Plant will get underway in the coming weeks.

EPS Group will deliver the works on behalf of the water utility and the project is expected to bring the region in line with national and EU standards regarding wastewater treatment.

Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, Esther White, says predicted population growth in the North Clare town has been factored into the development.
