Clare is set to benefit from almost €2.5 million in funding for housing adaptation grants for older people and disabled people.

Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien and Minister of State for Local Government and Planning Alan Dillon have announced that €74.5 million in Government funding will go towards the grant, which coupled local authority funding, will make over €93 million available nationwide.

In excess of €1.98 million has been allocated to Clare, which along with over €497,000 in Clare County Council funding, brings this county’s share to just shy of €2.5 million.

13,000 grants are expected to be delivered nationwide, 80% of which comes from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, with the remaining 20% coming from local authorities.
