€4.5 Million In Funding For Active Travel In Clare In 2023

4.5 million euro in funding has been announced for active travel infrastracture in Clare in 2023.

Clare County Council is to receive funding for 27 separate projects under the latest allocation from the National Transport Authority.

More than a third of the county’s active travel funding this year will go towards the Tulla Road Rapid Implementation Active Travel Scheme in Ennis.

 

A further €549,000 has been set aside for footpaths on the Ballycasey Close green area in Shannon.

Clonmoney National School’s to receive €150,000 under the scheme, with Ennis’ Holy Family National School being granted €100,000.

Ballybeg’s footpath project will see an injection to the tune of €150,000, while footpaths in Tulla and Killaloe will see a combined funding boost of €290,000.

Miltown Malbay and Spanish Point’s footpaths have also been allocated €225,000 between them, with further boosts for areas such as Inagh, Ennis town centre and Sixmilebridge.

A total of 290 million euro has been distributed across the country by Transport Minister Eamon Ryan for active travel projects today.

In a statement, Minister Ryan says the funding represents a ‘cornerstone’ of the Government’s transport strategies and will ensure communities across Clare and the rest of the country are ‘better connected’.
