Bank Of Ireland Announces Plans To Close Over 100 Branches

Bank of Ireland is to close around a third of its branches across Ireland.

88 branches are to close in the Republic of Ireland, and 15 more in the North, with the locations to be announced later this morning, after staff have been informed.

In Clare, fears have been expressed over the future of branches in Kilkee, Miltown Malby and Tulla.

The Bank says there has been a seismic shift in customer behaviour over the last year, including an “evident” trend towards digital banking, and it’s announced a partnership with An Post to offer cash banking services throughout its branch network.

Francesca McDonagh, Group CEO of Bank of Ireland, says details branches in all part of Ireland will be affected.
