Electric car sales in Clare have jumped by 70 percent in the past year.
New figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show of the 108 new vehicles sold here in September, nearly half of them were fully or partly electric.
Diesel car sales have also increased on the same time last year, though petrol car sales have dropped slightly.
SIMI Director General Brian Cooke says there are a number of challenges the industry is dealing with nationally.
