619 fathers in Clare have taken paternity leave since it came into operation just over a year ago.
The figure, which has been released by the Department of Social Protection, roughly mirrors the national trend, with 34% of fathers availing of the parental leave in the first three months of this year.
An Ireland South MEP has described the uptake of paternity leave in Clare in its first year as encouraging.
