Ennis council asked to provide parking for nurses

Ennis Town Council has been asked to provide cheaper parking for public health nurses in the town.

HSE staff working at clinics in the Francis Street and Bindon Street areas of the town had qualified for 50 euro parking permits, but under new revised parking by-laws they’ll now pay the same as other workers in Ennis.

It’s prompted concerns among many members of Ennis Town Council however, who feel 18 local district nurses should be able to park more easily and affordably than other motorists due to the urgent nature of their work with the sick and elderly.

The Ennis Town manager has stated that discounts for one sector of workers in the town would be inapropriate and possibly illegal but Labour Councillor Paul O’Shea disagrees
