A Clare doctor is calling for more basic Life Support Training in Irish schools and communities.

Dr Carly Lewis helped save the life of a man in his 70’s at Dromcondra train station, Dublin last month when he collapsed by performing CPR after discovering a lack of a pulse.

According to figures from the Irish Heart Foundation, there were 2,906 cases of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests where resuscitation was attempted in 2021.

The Ennis doctor is calling for the HSE and local employers to provide this essential training to the public.
