Development of flood relief efforts in Ennis have moved a step closer with the advertising of a tender for a contractor to carry out work on the scheme.
Applications for the tender can be made until the 8th of May this year which will be followed by a period of assessemnt to determine the most suitable candidate.
It is hoped that a decison will be made by August with work expected to begin before the end of the year.
It is hoped that the Ennis Lower Flood Relief Scheme can prevent a repeat of the severe flooding the town suffered in 2009 which caused thousands of euro worth of damage to homes and buisnesses in the town.
