The town of Ennis will be under the spotlight this evening, in terms of it’s appeal as an attractive night time destination.
Local business groups including Ennis Chamber and the Promote Ennis Initiative have applied for "Purple Flag" Recognition to boost Clare’s County Town as a more desirable location for evening activities and night time social life.
Just as Blue Flags indicate quality beaches – the Purple Flag is an indicator of where to go for a good night out and though it currently operates in 25 towns and cities across the UK, Ennis and Dublin are the first Irish applicants for the award.
With offical assessors in town to judge the night time welcome in Ennis, Mary Gleeson of the Old Ground Hotel is encouraging businesses to give their best efforts this evening
