Ennis Restaurant Claims Electricity Bills Forced It To Cut Back On Staff

An Ennis restaurant says it’s had to cut back on part-time staff to offset the effects of soaring electricity bills.

New figures from the Central Statistics Office show restaurants and pubs consumed more than twice as much electricity per square metre as offices last year.

Restaurants and pubs were also the type of premises that consumed the most overall electricity in 2023 – with its mean annual consumption of over 42,000 kilowatt hours being 52% higher than that of offices.
