Fears A Road Death Will Occur Before Solution To Shanaway Road Junction Is Found

It’s feared it’ll take a road death for Clare County Council to find a safe solution to a notorious junction in Ennis.

Tensions have flared among local representatives once again over the junction where the Shanaway Road meets the Lahinch Road on the outskirts of the county town, after the infamous exit was raised at this month’s meeting of Ennis Municipal District.

An executive engineer for the local body has confirmed that a Pedestrian Crossing Assessment is being prepared as part of a Feasiblity and Options report but no timeframe on construction has been given.

Ennis Fine Gael Councillor Mary Howard says she doesn’t want to see someone “injured or worse” at the junction before the issue is rectified.
